You will review how to think critically about using culturally responsive communication to develop partnerships and provide support, and review key policies related to disabilities and the role of advocacy.

About the Project

This continuing education course was developed in collaboration between the Sonoran Center and the Western Region Public Health Training Center (WRPHTC). The goals of this collaboration are to:

  • Explore the historical context of reproductive healthcare and disabilities
  • Apply supported decision-making with patients with disabilities
  • Identify barriers to pregnancy- and parenting-related healthcare
  • Recognize resources for healthcare providers and the disability community

The WRPHTC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team through November 2025. The WRPHTC is a Designated Multiple Event Provider of Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.
