Arizona was one of 26 states suing the federal government over the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Since the Act has been upheld, Governor Jan Brewer has indicated she is still against the ACA, but is reviewing the ruling and options for the State. Early indications are that Gov. Brewer has not made a decision yet on whether she would support Medicaid expansion for Arizona for the population with income between 100% and 133% of poverty level. Under the court’s ruling, the state has the option to refuse to accept federal funds to providing health care benefits for at least an additional 100,000 low income individuals in Arizona who are at or near the federal poverty level.
