Summer 2015

On April 13-15, nearly 700 disability advocates from all over the country assembled in Washington, DC for the 2015 Disability Policy Seminar. During the Seminar, attendees networked and went to informative sessions covering topics including the budget crisis, Social Security, and what to expect in federal education and employment policy. The event was full of engaging speakers, such as Rud Turnbull, a legend in the disability field and parent of a son with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD); Paul Marchand and Bobby Silverstein who helped pass the Americans with Disabilities Act; and Emily Landau, the owner of Social Justice Media Services.  After learning about all of the current issues, the participants set off to Capitol Hill the following day to educate Members of Congress on disability issues.
