The University of Arizona’s Sonoran UCEDD, along with the Frances McClelland Institute and Disability Resource Center, sponsored a film presentation, hosted reception and panel discussion for the movie FIXED on January 30th.Panel at FIXED movie event

This was a very successful event, with over 90 people with various backgrounds and interests in disabilities attending.  FIXED: The Science/Fiction of Human Enhancement takes a close look at the drive to be ‘better than human’ and the radical technological innovations that may take us there “From bionic limbs and neural implants to prenatal screening, researchers around the world are hard at work developing a myriad of technologies to fix or enhance the human body. The film explored both the science and human dimension of these developments leading to a spirited panel and audience discussion after the film.

The panelists included: Bijan Najafi, PhD, Associate Professor of Surgery & Director Interdisciplinary Consortium on Advanced Motion Performance; Chris Wenner, PhD, Clinical Psychologist & Health Behavior Consultant, El Rio Community Health Center, and Leslie Cohen, JD, Director Sonoran UCEDD, Assistant Professor Family and Community Medicine.   Sue Kroeger, Ed.D, Director, Disability Resources & Adjunct Faculty, Disability and Psychoeducational Studies, moderated the panel.
