Interdisciplinary Training Program

The fundamental objective of the Sonoran UCEDD Interdisciplinary Training Program is to prepare students from a variety of disciplines to become leaders and advocates in the disability field with an understanding of principles of self-determination and meaningful community inclusion for all people with disabilities. Trainee specific goals include:

  • Understanding the concept of interdisciplinary teams, the trainee's role within their own discipline and the value and methods of collaborating with other disciplines, self-advocates, families and community providers.
  • Understanding and valuing the lives of people with disabilities, their families and communities.
  • Knowledge of how systems work, how change occurs and how skills of advocacy, research and dissemination influence change within the framework of cultural competency.

The core curriculum for the interdisciplinary training program is composed of didactic, clinical, leadership, and research components.  For a more detailed description of the Sonoran UCEDD Training Program, please see our Program Description.
