A Unique, Accessible Volunteer Opportunity for People With Disabilities and Their Families

Feed My Starving Children - Mesa is a very popular experience where volunteers hand-pack nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. Meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world.
On Aug. 18, 2018, FMSC is partnering with organizations in Central Arizona, including Raising Special Kids, to provide a unique, accessible opportunity for families of individuals with disabilities and their families. The event will take place at the Mesa Convention Center. The goal is to provide a meaningful, fully engaging volunteer experience for all participants. Upon request, FMSC will provide personal care assistants to help participants with disabilities.
Volunteering gives people, including those with disabilities, the opportunity to share their time, talents, and energy with people in their community. It is an opportunity to help people in need, make new friends and social connections, participate more in the community, and learn job skills and social skills. And, are you aware that according to research, the odds of being “very happy” rose 7 percent among those who volunteer monthly and 12 percent for people who volunteer every two to four weeks?
