J.J. Rico Appointed as ACDL Acting Executive Director

J.J. RicoThe Board of Directors for the Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL) announced May 2, 2014 that J.J. Rico was named as Acting Executive Director.  Rico is currently ACDL’s Litigation Director.  He has been an employee of ACDL since graduating from the University of Arizona College of Law in 2001. 

Rico will take over in the interim while the ACDL Board of Directors conducts a national search to replace Peri Jude Radecic who announced she was leaving ACDL effective June 6, 2014.  Radecic was recently hired as the Chief Executive Officer of Disability Rights Network Pennsylvania (DRNPA) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  Radecic was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received her B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.  Her Juris Doctor is from the University of Arizona College of Law.  DRNPA is part of the same Protection and Advocacy network as ACDL. Radecic has worked for ACDL for 10 years.

Rico has an extensive civil litigation background on behalf of individuals with disabilities particularly in the areas of employment, public access, and special education.  His work included the representation of ACDL clients before Courts and administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Arizona Civil Rights Division.  Prior to his appointment as Acting Executive Director, Rico supervised the development and filing of civil litigation at ACDL. 

The Board of Directors has appointed a Search Committee and will conduct a nationwide search for a new Executive Director.
