general session in ballroom with over 100 attendeesThe Arizona Technology Access Program’s* 17th Annual Assistive Technology Summer Conference was held July 12-14, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa, in Scottsdale, AZ.  Attended by almost 500 persons, participants were able to choose among two preconference workshops, 56 breakout sessions and interact with 53 exhibitors who were displaying the most up-to- date assistive technology products and information on community resources.

Presentations covered a wide range of assistive technology topics relevant to education, employment and community living across the age and disability spectrum.  As the conference’s keynote speaker, Justin Martin explored the stereotypes that still pose barriers to full inclusion for persons with disabilities. Based on his own experiences as a young adult preparing to go to college, his presentation was thought provoking, insightful and peppered with a wry sense of humor.

Attendees included teachers, therapists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, support coordinators, persons with disabilities and family members. Session materials are available on the AzTAP website at http://aztap.org/conference/presentations-handouts/.
